Physiatrists (fizz-ee-‘a-trists) are physicians specializing in non-surgical management of injuries and diseases of the musculoskeletal and neuromuscular systems. Common conditions treated include traumatic injuries, neck, back and joint pain, spinal disorders, brain disorders, post-surgical rehabilitation and cancer rehabilitation. Dr. Hinderer has considerable expertise and experience treating individuals who have suffered multiple trauma, spinal cord and traumatic brain injuries. MAC PMR provides comprehensive diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal, neurological, and traumatic disorders, such as motor vehicle accident injuries, pain, lymphedema, SCI, spasticity, stroke, brain injury, and work-related injuries. Diagnostic and treatment procedures include EMG, NCV, pain and spasticity management, joint, tendon and trigger point injections.

Dr. Hinderer is Board Certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Electrodiagnostic Medicine (since 1987) and is known nationally for his significant contributions and advancing the care of people who have sustained catastrophic injuries. He has devoted his professional career to those with special needs for over 35 years via clinical care, teaching, research, and co-authoring several chapters in leading rehabilitation textbooks. He has served as a faculty member at the University of Michigan and Wayne State University and has served in a leadership capacity for several professional associations, including President of the American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine.
